Description: AEMC 6681 Cable Locator and Wire Tracer is designed to detect buried (in ground or in walls) metal pipes, telecommunication cables, electric power cables, and other cables, on systems at voltages of 300V or less, with respect to ground. The AEMC 6681 locates shorts, open circuits, fuses, circuit breakers, and tracks cables. The AEMC 6681 wire tracer works on energized and non-energized wires. Its transmitter applies a modulated AC to the circuit, which is picked up by the receiver. The transmitter also acts as an AC/DC voltmeter that displays the measured voltage and voltage-warning indicator. The transmitter has a self-test function that helps indicate good transmission between transmitter and receiver.  The AMEC 6681’s receiver features a highly sensitive sensor that generates a display proportional to the electric field detected. After the signal has been received, decoded, processed, and shaped the user is able to determine the location of underground cables and pipes in addition to detecting any faults in them. The receiver also includes an audible buzzer that changes pitch in order to indicate the detected signal strength.
